Quick Look

Feature Overview:
– Up to 5 personalized matches a day
– Advanced matching system
– Owned by the makers of Match.com

Chemistry.com is focused on using detailed personality matching without being too intimidating. Their system was developed by Dr. Helen Fisher to find someone that complements you perfectly. So, what do you get? As a paying member, you have unlimited communication — like emails — with your matches, you can find out who has looked at your profile, and even who has shown an interest in you.

Chemistry.com has one of the most in-depth sign-up processes out there, but we don’t see that as a bad thing — you want quality matches, right? The process takes about 20 minutes to get through the initial in-depth questionnaire, with about 10 more minutes of filling in your basic information. Overall, Chemistry.com focuses on helping you get to know who is really behind the profile through great conversation starters and in-depth personality matching.

Personality Type Questionnaire

When you sign up, be prepared to take the personality type test. As mentioned, it will take you around 20 minutes, and will include all kinds of interesting questions to accurately pinpoint your personality type. Some of the questions may seem odd, but there’s a method to the madness!

Some questions you’ll see on the questionnaire:

  • Which of these smiles are fakes?
  • What’s your social circle like?
  • How do you feel when you see public displays of affection?
  • Is your index finger shorter or longer than your ring finger?

Where would you most like to live?

Background and Basic Questionnaire

This part of the sign up process is more straightforward. You’ll be filling out information about your appearance (eye color, physical traits), background (religion, schooling, ethnicity), and hobbies.

Relationship Questionnaire

The last section of the sign up questionnaire is no less important than the others! You’ll be presented with relationship preferences to help with the matching process — think schooling, ethnicity, their relationship history, etc. Each question will allow you to choose an answer and weigh its importance to you with a slider.

What do you want out of a relationship? Weigh your options.

Your Bio and Photos

Whew, you’re not done quite yet! After you complete all of the questionnaire sections you’ll move on to completing your profile headline, bio, and photo uploads. Your character limits are as follows: Profile headline is capped at 128 characters, and your bio at 2,000 — use your space wisely!

Be sure to upload at least a nice profile photo, you have the option to add up to 25 secondary photos, too. See Hayley’s tips for a great profile photo. Keep in mind that the folks at Chemistry.com approve every profile and profile photo!
